Rida from the Philippines: “Wypoon made me feel like a VIP”

Rida from the Philippines: “Wypoon made me feel like a VIP”

Florida has always been drawn to technology. In the Philippines, she built her career as a solution designer in the automation space, specializing in RPA and Microsoft Power Apps. When the opportunity came to continue her career in the Netherlands, Florida grabbed it with both hands. It was a chance to grow in her work and start a new chapter in life, something she didn’t hesitate to dive into.

"Moving here gave me the chance to figure out what I want to do, instead of what I need to do."

Moving to the Netherlands gave Florida the opportunity to press pause and start fresh, both in her career and in life.

“Life is slower in the Netherlands. Moving here gave me the chance to figure out what I want to do, instead of what I need to do. During my time in the Philippines, I found myself constantly thinking about how I could make a positive impact and help my community. Here the system is already seamless: transportation, neighborhoods, automation systems, etc. There’s so little to complain about. Everything is clean and organized and finally I have the space where I can focus on my well-being.”

"It felt amazing to know good people were waiting for me on the other side.”

Moving to a new country and not knowing the language can be intimidating, yet Florida always felt supported.

“Wypoon was there every step of the way. They checked in on me regularly, kept me updated on the latest status, and took care of everything: from visas to physical applications. They made me feel like a VIP, which made me a little shy at times. Whenever something was unclear, they even texted me on weekends or called to explain everything. It completely eased my anxiety. It felt amazing to know that good people were waiting for me on the other side.”

"I have the time and space to focus on myself and my thoughts."

One of the biggest changes Florida noticed after moving to the Netherlands is the pace of life.

“People here don’t rush. Back in the Philippines, I had more responsibilities and everything felt like a constant competition. Here, it feels like a fresh canvas. I can choose which activities I want to do, and as days go by, I can truly build a life that’s slower and leaves room for rest. I have the time and space to focus on myself and my thoughts.”

Transportation is another noticeable difference. “In the Philippines, trains don’t always run on time. You often have to fight your way in and out of the train. Here, everything works and is walkable. It makes life so much easier.”

Advice for Future Expats: "Find a good company like Wypoon to help you move."

For anyone considering a move to the Netherlands for work, Florida has one clear piece of advice:

“Don’t just move because you have an opportunity, move because you have people who can guide and support you. My advice: find a good company like Wypoon to help you move. I’ve heard horror stories of people who had to book hotels for months or even loan money to pay for their plane ticket. I couldn’t imagine moving without support. With Wypoon, someone was waiting at the airport to drive me to my temporary home. They reassured me that English is widely spoken here. It made the whole process so much less stressful.”

"The little, everyday moments that make a new country feel like home"

If Florida could sum up her experience in the Netherlands on a traditional Dutch tile, it would be about one of her first Dutch traditions: the dutch lunch.

“During my first week, a tall, friendly Dutch colleague invited me to lunch. We walked fifteen minutes to a small shop to buy sandwiches. In that simple walk, my first tradition in my new life in the Netherlands was born. I loved walking with colleagues, having a good chat, and of course, the sandwiches! They make you feel light and healthy. That small ritual has now become a meaningful part of my routine here.

It’s a reminder of how small, everyday moments can make a new country start to feel like home.”
